JUNE LORDI, LMBT

June Lordi has been involved in Holistic practices for over 35 years. After her trainings in Tai Chi Chuan and Massage Therapy (Downeast School of Massage 1980-1982), she began teaching adults Tai Chi classes and Family Massage courses. She has had an active massage practice for over 25 years, focusing on pain management, injury rehabilitation, athletic performance, pregnancy and infant massage, business practices and more. June likes working with people to help them arrive at lifestyle adjustments that lead to a life with more ease! She currently holds several state licenses for practice in massage therapy.

The style of Tai Chi Chuan that June teaches were brought here from China by H.H. Lui and is called a long/low form based in a combination of Wu and Yang styles. She owes her training to both Master Lui and his devoted student, Bambi Jones, who patiently gave June the day-to-day training in Tai Chi. Through Tai Chi, June claims life enrichment, clarity of focus and more centered body awareness.

On an organizational level, June is a charter member of the Maine Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association (1983), and, as educational director and New England Conference chair for her state, brought quality educators in the bodywork profession to the members. She initiated the Maine State Sports Massage Team and later passed the National Sports Massage Exam to become an AMTA National Sports Massage Team member. June also participated on the National Sports Massage Education Committee to test incoming applicants for the team. Whether organizing therapists for the Boston Marathon or contracting educational presenters for 3 day conferences, June's goals have always been integrity, efficiency and fun!

June was accepted as an NCBTMB approved provider of her course Tai Chi Massage: A Bodymechanics Course for Massage Therapists as a 3, 6, or 12 hour offering through the National Certification Board for Massage Therapy and Bodywork. She has taught for schools, massage organizations, medical communities and private facilities throughout the US and Canada. After developing the course, she produced a manual and a video/DVD on this approach. You can get more information at www.taichimassage.com

June currently resides in the Greenville SC area, teaching classes in massage therapy and Tai Chi, and has a massage therapy practice.
